Sore Arm DiagnosisDon't Play In Pain. If you are throwing with persistent pain, STOP! Send us a videotape. Sore arms rarely get better by working harder. If anything, they get worse. There are a number of reasons for a sore arm. Over the years VTML has dealt with most of them. Biomechanical flaws, physiological abnormality, improper warm up, poor arm strength, over-use with little in-season training, all will contribute to a minor sore arm or a major physical problem. Like most medical situations, the earlier that you can evaluate the symptoms and diagnose and treat the cause, the better chance you will have for a quick recovery. You need to find out what is causing your discomfort. In many cases of throwing pain, a doctor will tell you to stop throwing for two weeks, place you on anti-inflammatory medication, and perhaps recommend several visits to a physical therapist. This will make your pain go away. IT WON'T HOWEVER, KEEP IT AWAY. As so many doctors have told us, they can treat the symptoms but not the cause. That requires work with professionals like VTML who deal with throwing mechanics. We will interview you by phone, analyze your videotape, identify or eliminate a biomechanical cause, and work with you to provide a solution to the problem. If medical assistance is needed we can interface with your doctor or physical therapist or recommend a baseball orthopedist in your area. $175 fee. |
